QCD Sum Rules for Skeptics
نویسنده
چکیده
A new Monte-Carlo based uncertainty analysis is introduced to quantitatively determine the predictive ability of QCD sum rules. A comprehensive analysis of ground state ρ-meson and nucleon spectral properties is performed. Many of the findings contradict the conventional wisdom of both practitioners and skeptics alike. Associations between the phenomenological fit parameters are particularly interesting as they reveal how the sum rules resolve the spectral properties. The use of derivative sum rules for the determination of ρ-meson spectral properties is shown to be a very unfavorable approach. Most prior nucleon sum rule analyses are based on a sum rule which is found to be invalid; the results are suspect, and should be reevaluated. The “Ioffe formula”, argued by many to qualitatively encapsulate a description of the nucleon mass in terms of the chiral symmetry breaking order parameter 〈qq〉 is misleading at best. QCD Sum Rules are found to be self-consistent without contributions from direct instantons. This implies that instanton effects are adequately accounted for in the nonperturbative vacuum condensates. This in-depth examination of QCD sum rule self consistency paints a favorable picture for further quantitative refinements of the QCD sum rule approach. Sum-Rule Inequalities and a Toy Model Paradox
Fundamental inequalities for QCD sum-rules are applied to resolve a paradox recently encountered in a sum-rule calculation [1]. This paradox was encountered in a toy model known to be free of resonances that yields an apparent resonance using a standard sum-rule stability analysis. Application of the inequalities does not support the existence of a well defined sum-rule calculation, and shows a...
متن کاملParton-Hadron duality in QCD sum rules: quantum mechanical examples
Motivated by recent work on three-point QCD sum rules in heavy quark physics, we use the simple quantum mechanical models to study the basic issue of duality in three-point sum rules. We show that while in all of these models the duality in two-point sum rules works fine, the duality in three-point sum rules may be 100%violated, leading to completely unreliable predictions for the matrix elemen...
متن کاملConstraints on the finite-density spectral densities of vector channel
Sum rules for the variation of finite-density spectral density of vector channel with baryon density are derived based on dispersion relations and the operator product expansion. These sum rules may serve as constraints on the phenomenological models for the finite-density spectral densities used in the approaches motivated from QCD. Applying these sum rules to the rho meson in nuclear medium w...
متن کاملQcd Sum Rule and Perturbative Qcd Approaches to Pion Compton Scattering
We compare two approaches to the description of pion Compton scattering at moderate momentum transfer, one being based on local duality QCD sum rules for the invariant amplitudes of the process, which have been derived recently, and the other on the modified factorization formula with Sudakov effects included. We find that perturbative QCD predictions are dominant over those from QCD sum rules ...
متن کاملUnitary Structure of the QCD Sum Rules and KYN and KYΞ Couplings
New relations between QCD Borel sum rules for strong coupling constants of K-mesons to baryons are derived. It is shown that starting from the sum rule for the coupling constants gπΣΣ and gπΣΛ it is straightforward to obtain corresponding sum rules for the gKY N , gKY Ξ couplings, Y = Σ,Λ.
